Montecito Club, previously named Montecito Country Club, is a Private 18 holes golf course located in Santa Barbara, California.
The course first opened for play in 1922. The course was designed by Max Behr. The course was closed in 2016 for a total course renovation by Jack Nicklaus.
The three-year renovation and rebranding included not just the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, it also included a 4,800 sq.-ft. ballroom, 6,500 sq.-ft. fitness center with a “Kids Club,” a state-of-the-art screening room and movie theater, the state’s largest private-club pool complex, and an AMF Bowling Alley complete with arcade games. Ty Warner— hotelier and Beanie Baby manufacturer—said his goal was to “create the best country club in the world.”
The renovations and additions came at a reported price of $75 million.

A fun challenging course--especially the greens.

Nice combination of short and 400+ par 4's. The greens were perfect, very fast and hard to read. Good variety of par 3's, some nearly 200 yds and fun steeply uphill hundred yarder. I didn't think the sidehill lies were any worse than any other course I play. Driving range is irons only.

This is probably the toughest short course you can play with very few flat lies, kikuya grass and small fast greens. I play it quite often and it is a challenge every time! The views are spectaculer. Hole 7's fairway is a bugger because it is below sea level and the salinity nails the grass, yes even kikuya!

Just like the others said, tuff layout for short course, lots of up hill and down hill lies. Real small greens that are hard to hit and super fast. Great Pro staff. Pro shop in trailer but nice.

Great Staff -Tuff lay-out for a short course- Requires you to hit precise second or third shots into samll fast greens. Stay below the hole or you have a bunch of three putts waiting. Wonderful views of the ocean. Couple of holes need work ie-#7 fairway. Other than that great course and nice people.

Older course on the short side. Small greens that require you to hit good second and third shots. Greens are on the very fast side. Course built on the side of a hill so you get a lot of side hill, up and down lies. Fun course that can bite you if you spend too much time looking at the beautiful ocean and islands. Great staff with a friendly head pro.

Great Staff with a great short course. Long and short par 4's and par 3's with tuff small greens that are hard to hit and harder to put. Well worth the money and time. Pace of play is excellent with views to match. Maybe the hardest finishing hole in the county. 18 is a long par 5 with the last 150 yrds. up hill to a green the size of a postage stamp, plays into the wind after 10 AM.
